Using Zilch for subscriptions

Pay for subscriptions with Zilch.

Can I use Zilch for subscriptions?

Yes. You can use Zilch to pay for many subscriptions and recurring payments using your Zilch card details.

Subscriptions commonly used with Zilch include:

  • Amazon services (Prime, Music, Audible and Kindle Unlimited)

  • Apple

  • Google Play and YouTube

  • Sky TV, Broadband and Mobile

  • Ocado Smart Pass

  • Microsoft 365

  • Xbox Game Pass

  • Deliveroo Plus

You can use:

  • Pay now

  • Pay over 6 weeks

Availability may vary depending on the subscription provider.

Will my subscription payments continue automatically?

Yes. Once you've added your Zilch card details to a subscription service, the merchant can continue taking recurring payments automatically in line with your subscription agreement.

You will not usually need to approve each recurring subscription payment manually.

Will I be charged every month?

Yes. Your subscription provider will continue charging your Zilch card according to the subscription billing cycle, such as monthly or annually, unless you cancel the subscription directly with the provider.

Can I use my Zilch card details for subscriptions?

Yes. You can use your Zilch card details for subscriptions just like a normal Visa card.

To view your Zilch card details:

  1. Open the Zilch app.

  2. Go to Account.

  3. Select Zilch card settings.

  4. Select Reveal card details.

You can then enter your Zilch card details when setting up a subscription.

Can I use Pay now for subscriptions?

Yes. If you use Pay now, the full subscription payment will be taken each billing cycle.

You may also earn up to 0.5% in Rewards on eligible subscription payments made using Pay now.

How does Pay over 6 weeks work for subscriptions?

Each subscription payment creates a separate Pay over 6 weeks purchase, including any applicable fees.

For example, if an Amazon Prime subscription renews monthly:

  • The January subscription payment creates one Pay over 6 weeks purchase

  • The February subscription payment creates a new Pay over 6 weeks purchase

This means you may have multiple Pay over 6 weeks purchases active at the same time if a subscription renews before an earlier repayment plan has finished.

Make sure you're comfortable managing ongoing repayments before using Pay over 6 weeks for recurring subscription payments.

Can I use Zilch with all subscription services?

Many subscription services work with Zilch, but availability depends on:

  • The merchant

  • The type of subscription

  • How the payment provider processes recurring card payments

Some merchants may not support recurring payments using virtual cards or digital wallets.

Why did my subscription payment fail?

A subscription payment may fail if:

  • Your Zilch card details have changed

  • Your Zilch card has expired

  • Your available credit is too low

  • Your account is restricted

  • The merchant cannot process the payment

  • The subscription provider does not support the payment type

You should also check that:

  • Your subscription provider attempted the payment successfully

  • Your Zilch card details are up to date

  • Your Zilch account is active and in good standing

What happens if my Zilch card details change?

If your Zilch card details change, your subscription provider may not be able to take future payments successfully.

To update your subscription payment details:

  1. Open the Zilch app.

  2. Reveal your latest Zilch card details.

  3. Update the payment method directly with your subscription provider.

Can I Snooze subscription payments?

Subscription payments can only be Snoozed if the subscription payment has created an eligible Pay over 6 weeks purchase and the instalment meets the eligibility requirements for Snooze.

Can I cancel a subscription through Zilch?

No. You'll need to cancel your subscription directly with the subscription provider or merchant.

Cancelling or removing your Zilch card will not automatically cancel your subscription agreement.

If you've already cancelled your subscription but still see charges, contact the subscription provider directly.
