Smart settings let you choose how purchases are paid for if you make a purchase without enabling your Zilch card in the app first.
Smart settings replace what was previously called your default purchase setting.
With smart settings, you can choose:
Pay now
Pay over 6 weeks (minimum purchase amount £10)
Pay over 3 months, Pay over 6 months or Pay over 12 months (minimum purchase amount £75)
You can update your smart settings at any time in the Zilch app.

If you make a purchase without enabling your Zilch card in the app first, Zilch will use your smart settings to decide how the purchase is paid for.
For example, smart settings may be used if you make a purchase using Tap and Pay without enabling your Zilch card before paying.

If a purchase is processed as Pay over 6 weeks through smart settings, the fee is:
£3–£3.50 for purchases up to £75
£4–£4.50 for purchases over £75
If a purchase is processed as Pay now through smart settings:
No fees apply
You'll earn up to 0.5% in Rewards

Pay now: anything under £10
Pay over 6 weeks: £10–£99.99
Pay over 3 months: £100–£249.99
Pay over 6 months: £250–£399.99
Pay over 12 months: £400 and above

Yes. You can update your smart settings at any time.
To update your smart settings:
Open the Zilch app.
Go to My account.
Tap Smart settings.
Choose how you want to pay.
You can also choose the minimum purchase amount at which Pay over 3 months, Pay over 6 months and Pay over 12 months should apply, subject to eligibility.

Smart settings for Pay monthly are being rolled out gradually.
If you cannot see Pay monthly smart settings yet, keep an eye on the Zilch app for future updates.

You'll usually get lower fees and higher Rewards when you enable your Zilch card in the app before shopping.
Zilch lists thousands of stores in the app. When you enable your Zilch card before making a purchase, you can choose how you want to pay for that specific purchase.
