What is Advance?

Need a little extra before you get paid? Here’s how Advance works.

Borrow up to £100 before you get paid with Advance

Advance is rolling out gradually. If Advance becomes available on your account, we'll let you know in the Zilch app.

Advance lets eligible customers borrow up to £100 up to seven days before they get paid, with no interest. If eligible, the money is sent directly to your bank account and is repaid on your pay date, plus a £3 transfer fee.

Advance is designed to give you extra flexibility before you get paid.

How much can I borrow with Advance?

You can borrow up to 20% of your verified income, up to a maximum of £100, with a minimum of £25. Your exact limit depends on your eligibility.

How much does Advance cost?

Advance does not charge interest, but there is a £3 transfer fee for each Advance.

For example, if you borrow £100 using Advance, you'll repay £103 in total.

How do I get an Advance?

To check whether you're eligible for Advance, you'll need to connect your bank account using Open Banking and verify your income.

Open Banking is available with Zilch Extra.

If you're eligible for Advance, you'll be able to transfer your Advance directly to your bank account.

When can I use Advance?

You can use Advance during the seven days before your pay date.

You can only use Advance once per calendar month.

When will I receive my Advance?

Once your Advance has been approved, the money is sent directly to your bank account.

Most customers receive their Advance immediately, but it can take up to two hours for the money to arrive.

How do Advance repayments work?

Advance repayments are collected in full from your linked debit card on your verified pay date.

Your verified pay date is based on the income information confirmed through Open Banking. If needed, you can adjust your repayment date by up to 3 days after the original date.

You can also repay your Advance early in the Zilch app.

If your repayment fails, we'll retry the payment on the same day and for the following 3 days. If your Advance becomes overdue, you won't be able to make new credit purchases using Zilch until the balance is repaid. Pay Now will still be available.

Can I Snooze an Advance repayment?

You can’t manually Snooze an Advance repayment at the moment.

Auto Snooze is available for Advance – if you need more time, you can set it to delay your repayment by:

  • 4 days for £1

  • 8 days for £2

To enable Auto Snooze, go to your settings in the Zilch app and toggle it on.

Can I use Advance for anything?

Yes. Once your Advance has been transferred to your bank account, you can use the money however you like.

Why can't I access Advance?

You may not be able to access Advance if:

  • You have not connected your bank account using Open Banking.

  • We have not been able to verify regular income after you connected your bank account.

  • You are outside the seven-day period before your pay date.

  • Your Zilch account has been locked for any reason.

  • You have overdue payments on your Zilch account.

  • Your calculated Advance limit is below £25.
