What is Auto Snooze?

Find out how Auto Snooze works, what it costs and how to manage it in the Zilch app

Auto Snooze is being rolled out gradually

Not everyone will see it in the app just yet, but don’t worry – we’ll let you know as soon as it’s available for your account.

Auto Snooze gives you a little extra time to repay if you’ve missed an instalment – helping you stay in control of your account.

If your instalment hasn’t been paid by the day after your due date – and Auto Snooze is switched on – we’ll try to collect a small fee. If we collect it successfully, we’ll automatically move your payment date by 4 or 8 days:

How much does Auto Snooze cost?

Auto Snooze costs:

  • £1 for 4 days (Pay over 6 weeks only)

  • £2 for 8 days

Is Auto Snooze turned on by default?

Yes – Auto Snooze is switched on automatically, but you can turn it off any time in your settings. Go to: Settings > Payments > Auto Snooze

By default:

  • Pay over 6 weeks = 4-day delay

  • Pay over 3 months = 8-day delay

Can I still use regular Snooze?

Yes – you can manually Snooze any instalment up to one day before it's due. You’ll get the same 4 or 8 day delay, but at a lower cost:

  • 75p for 4 days (Pay over 6 weeks only)

  • £1.50 for 8 days

How does Auto Snooze work?

If your instalment isn’t paid by the day after the due date:

  • We’ll try to collect the instalment again

  • If that fails and Auto Snooze is on, we’ll try to collect the Auto Snooze fee

  • If the fee is collected, your instalment will be delayed by 4 or 8 days – depending on your settings

  • Your payment schedule will continue from the new date

  • If the fee isn’t collected, the instalment will stay overdue and you won’t be able to use Pay over time until it’s repaid

Can I choose between 4 and 8 days?

Yes – if you're using Pay over 6 weeks, you can choose either 4 or 8 days in the app.

If you’re using Pay over 3 months, Auto Snooze will delay your payment by 8 days.

Can Auto Snooze apply to every instalment?

You can Auto Snooze each instalment once – as long as you haven’t already manually Snoozed it. You can't Snooze or Auto Snooze your first instalment, as this is paid at checkout.

What if I’ve already Snoozed an instalment manually?

If you’ve used Snooze on an instalment before the due date, Auto Snooze won’t apply. It only works on instalments that haven’t been Snoozed.

What if I have more than one instalment due on the same day?

If multiple instalments are eligible for Auto Snooze, we’ll combine the fees into one payment.

  • If successful, all eligible instalments will be delayed

  • If the fee can’t be collected, none will be

What if I already have an overdue instalment?

Even if you’ve got an overdue payment, your next instalment can still be Auto Snoozed – as long as it hasn’t already been Snoozed manually.

How many times will you try to collect the Auto Snooze fee?

We’ll only try to collect the fee once, just after the second-day payment attempt.

Are all customers eligible?

Yes – Auto Snooze is available to all Zilch customers.

Can I turn Auto Snooze off?

Yes – you can turn it off any time in the app:

  • Open the Zilch app

  • Select Account

  • Select Payment settings or App settings

  • Select Auto Snooze settings

  • Update your Auto Snooze settings

  • Select Save Auto Snooze settings

Just note that once it’s off, any missed instalments will follow the standard overdue process.
