I received a verification code I wasn't expecting

Find out what to do if you receive an unexpected verification code

A verification code, sometimes called a one-time password (OTP), helps keep your Zilch account secure.

If you receive a verification code you weren't expecting, it does not necessarily mean that someone has accessed your Zilch account.

Why did I receive a verification code?

You may receive a verification code when someone attempts to log in to your Zilch account or complete a security check.

Receiving a verification code does not automatically mean that someone has successfully accessed your account.

When should I be concerned about an unexpected verification code?

Be cautious if:

  • You did not try to log in to your Zilch account

  • You were not expecting a verification code

  • You've noticed other suspicious activity on your Zilch account

  • The message came from an unknown sender

What should I do if I receive a verification code I wasn't expecting?

If you receive a verification code you weren't expecting:

  • Do not share the verification code with anyone

  • Do not enter the verification code anywhere unless you're logging in yourself

  • Change your password if you're concerned about the security of your Zilch account

  • Continue monitoring your Zilch account for suspicious activity
