There are several reasons why a debit card may not be accepted:

Is my debit card supported?

You cannot link:

  • Corporate cards

  • Credit cards

  • Pre-paid cards

  • Cards issued by non-UK banks

  • Cards that are not in UK currency

  • Cards already linked to another Zilch account

Has my debit card expired?

You cannot link an expired debit card.

If your debit card is due to expire soon, your bank may send you a replacement debit card before the expiry date. If you've received a replacement debit card, try linking that instead.

Has my bank declined the request?

Some banks may not allow their debit cards to be linked to Zilch.

If your bank has declined the request, contact your bank directly for more information.

Some banks may decline the request if your account doesn't support recurring payments. This is known to affect certain account types, particularly with some high street banks.

Can I change my linked debit card?

Yes. You can add a new debit card and choose it as your default payment card.

To help keep accounts secure, we may place a block on a Zilch account if linked debit cards are changed too frequently.

My linked debit card is frozen. Can I still use Zilch?

No. If your linked debit card is frozen, you will not be able to use Zilch with that debit card.

To continue using Zilch, you'll need to either:

  • Link a different debit card

  • Choose another linked debit card and set it as your default payment card
